This surface design was created using a combination of cat memes as reference. I am a huge fan of memes and cats are one of the most popular categories of memes. I also included a Pikachu meme in this pattern since he has cat-like features.
My process for this pattern was pretty simple. I drew the memes by hand in a sketchbook while using meme pictures as reference. Then I retraced my drawings in Adobe Illustrator using the pen tool and filled in the drawing with color. After I had my illustrated objects ready I started to fill in a 1000 pixel by 1000 pixel box with my objects in random places. I then repeated the pattern after I finished filling up the box. Overall I am pleased with the way it turned out.
